<<< This way to the hospital complex Cancer of the colon – no. 2 amongst the cancerous illnesses – is one of the main health challenges of our day and age. Planning of prophylactic measures against cancer of the colon and cancer of the rectum or diagnosing and combating the cancer – if it is already present – in a thorough and considerate way is a complex task that can nowadays only be tackled by a team of specialists working in close cooperation: at a centre for intestinal medicine [a "Darmzentrum"] with the maximum possible experience and modern technical equipment. In our medical practice we perform prophylactic enteroscopies to help avoid this intestinal illness. (the 2nd most frequent type of cancerous illnesses) This prophylactic medicine is at present, for political reasons (lack of funds), not subsidized by the "Gesetzlichen Krankenversicherungen" [German public health insurance funds] for patients under 55 years of age. For this reason the costs of these prophylactic examinations must be met by the patients themselves. We recommend this prophylactic medical examination well before the age of 55.
